Dates & News:

ZimDog News, can be accessed from: www.vanerp.net.

News:

Heard that Meryl Harrison is leaving Zimbabwe at the end of June and going to live in the West Midlands UK. She has been able to re-home all her dogs except the Japanese Shiba Inu, who can only go to a home without any other animals.

News Flash: the dog has found a home and probably will be shown in the coming shows as well. A farewell party is being organized and invitations to this have been passed around.

Cindy Ordman has imported two Rottweiler puppies from SA, so we will see them in the breed as well as IPO in future?

Condolences:

CH.(ZIM) Ballinahown Geraldine, B, born 06 April 1994, was Norah Griffin 's last remaining Irish Setter.

‘Geraldine’ could not go on anymore, old age, and Nora is now without any dog for the first time since a long time ago. Lets hope she will get another young one again for the future.

"One of the judges elect for the Ladies Kennel Association and Hatfield Kennel Club's Ch. Shows on 25/26 June in Harare, Zimbabwe, has recently tragically died in Natal, South Africa, from cancer, Mrs. Liz Williams. The Clubs have expressed sympathy to her husband, Tony."

Dates and Shows

A huge thank you to everyone who worked/came/entered/sold/bought/walked or did anything on 24 April 2005 at the Dog Walk & Show for Pets :  you helped us raise a wonderful ZWD.19 000 000 for the SPCA.

Now let's do it again at the SPCA CHARITY FUN SHOW on SUNDAY, 29th MAY again at our favorite venue, the Mukuvisi Woodland and Nature Reserve, Glenara Avenue South/Hillside Road, Hillside, commencing 10.00 with Alice Hamilton & Bonny Woodman (Special Olympics) judging. Stalls galore - again, and Flyers now available if you can distribute any to our local shops/garages/local car parks.  Classes include Puppy, Junior Handling, Crock's Handling, Best Rescued Dogs, Spud & Spoon Race, Dog With the Waggiest Tail, Best Six Legs, Dog The Judges Would Most Like To Take Home, Fancy Dress, the New Sack Race, Swankiest Dawgs, and the one and only Best Sausage Eater Race!!! There are a few Breed Classes on the 29th, 09.00 judged by Catherine Jennings. Loads and loads more PEDIGREE prizes to be won. We shall also be taking entries for the Championship Shows on 25/26 June. Come on - let's bring some FUN back into our days and help the  SPCA  at the same time.

Come on - get those winter pullovers out and bring friends, the family and Fido along. On SUNDAY, 31 JULY, in response to many, many requests, we shall be having another Dog Walk at 09.00 in the Mukuvisi Woodland where you went before.  Sponsorship forms for the Walk from the usual places.  The Winter Fun Show Classes will start at 10.00.  Flyers are available for this also.

The SPCA Show was held this last Sunday and lots of fun and many people came to enjoy it. Some had control problems; see picture no 1, but most dogs were very well behaved and no fights incurred. Many came with very young children and all dogs seem to be used to them and lovely to watch. Various classes could be entered and picture 2 shows part of the Children handling class left with a 2 year old handling his terrier, to a 12 year old handling her German Shepherd. Picture 3 & 4 were some of the fancy dress dogs: no 3 with her dog in a baby pram and 4 with a fantastic made ‘Headmaster’ outfit complete with the black coat, sash and Mortarboard hat. Picture 5 was my favorite ‘Spider man’ who entered with his dog, in the 6-legged competition.

Dear Dogs and Cats

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years-canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
