Mishaps
Leigh Tarr [who is at Kariba over the festive season] broke her right arm and I thought it was a joke, but her answer was quite hilarious and here it is for you to read: “of course i did, it's all plastered up - i cud get eaten by crocs [crock fodder was her comment] at kariba if i fall out of the boat/s!!!

For the persistent ear infection, so often in German Shepherds

Although olive leaf extract is classed as an alternative herbal remedy, it can be helpful in the treatment of the common cold, flu, cold sores (herpes), ear infections, eye infections, nose and throat infections, impetigo, pink eye, parasites, and a host of bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Many major health claims are being made about olive leaf extract, but since they involve unverified clinical trials we prefer not to list the claimed pathogens that it is said to destroy.

The main constituent of olive leaf is the phytochemical oleuropein, which has broken down to elenolic acid, which have a powerful anti-bacterial effect, and has the ability to interfere with critical amino acid production essential for viruses.

Exercises for hind legs which need strengthening. Who is prepared to help with their swimming pool? Helping and teaching contact Editor.

1

1:To entice your dog to swim use a ball that also makes her to change directions.

2 At times let her go back with her ‘prey’ to have a rest on the steps

  2

3

3 More swimming with controlled directions, often let them do a tight circle around you, first clockwise and then ante clock wise as this helps each hind leg kick.

4

4 Going to the steps and use them as a hold for the dog, do now hind leg stretches

5

5 Another good way is standing the dog and taking each front paw and stretch it forward and then take the left paw to do the same.

Further news about last month Chelito write up:

Took Chelito to Alison this morning,

Chelito front legs have developed 2 cms and her back legs 3 cms her neck

muscles doing great I already noticed that Chelito is not walking anymore with her back tucked up, she is now holding it much straighter

Who could have done this to Czar, his mother and littermates???

Left: Czar in the garden. Right: sitting with his latest owner Rhona and getting a little training each day.

A animal box was abandoned at the Airport and when staff came to look what was in it, there was a German Shepherd looking Mum dying with her 4 pups, of which one was dead, one was dying and still one alive which was named Czar. Phillip Clark took Czar and went training with him at the club, but Phillip had to leave the country and so Czar ended up with his friends, who also were friends of Rhona. Czar was dearly loved at his 2dn home, but the wife died and the husband couldn’t cope with Czar and he now has gone to his third and extremely loving new owners Rhona and husband.

HOW TO TELL IF YOU ARE DRIVING TOO FAST...

Not sure who sent this  but it came via one of my website readers.  it really makes me chuckle...

Avian Influenza I have now a write up about the seminar Dr Stuart Hargreaves had a few weeks ago, anyone interested please contact Editor.

DEAR FRIENDS OF BALLY VAUGHAN,

Thank you for your support, patronage and interest, particularly over the last few trying years. Without you, we certainly could not have made it so far!!

Kathie and the late Robin McIntosh, as a pioneering, non-consumptive wild life project, on land considered at the time to be wasteland, built bally Vaughan Game Park up over 20 years. A scenic 1000 acre game park dotted with massive whale-back granite domes was stocked with 22 species of wild life, including buffalo and elephant, and a 12 bed luxury lodge established in the game park, named Mwanga Lodge after a magnificent indigenous hardwood tree species in the area.

The sanctuary was named the Bally Vaughan Bird and Game Sanctuary, and to it was added a Restaurant (The Duck and Grouse Restaurant) and Fast Food outlet (The Gazebo), to serve visitors.

Robin McIntosh's death in September 1999, took us all by surprise. His sudden passing, posed a serious challenge to the future of Bally Vaughan! Then in January 2000, Kathie called upon the assistance of her daughter, Debbie (a fully qualified Professional Guide, and teacher) and son-in-law Gordon (ex National Parks Warden for just under 20yrs, and Professional Hunter) Putterill, to assist in managing wild life and tourism operations on Bally Vaughan.

The long and the short of it all is that Bally Vaughan Game Park / Mwanga Lodge, and Bally Vaughan Bird and Game Sanctuary are still on the map, and are still functioning! We are only 40km from Harare! By visiting our Bird and Game Sanctuary, or joining us on a day safari or over night experience at Mwanga Lodge, your contribution will help support the needs of a vast array of wild life here at Bally Vaughan. Plus, we offer a great wild life experience to boot!

Contact Editor for more details. It’s not a ‘doggy’ matter bit still worthwhile to read up about it.
