Dates & News: ZimDog News, can be accessed from: www.vanerp.net. Zimbabwe Kennel Club: The Zimbabwe Kennel Club office will now only be open on a Friday each week, 09.00-12.00 & 14.00-16.00 CAT. We've all got to get members subs/club fees and the like paid to the EO of ZKC before the end of January or penalties come in to effect. Fleas & Flies: Since fleas and flies are very active this season, it is suggested that Flea Free is sprayed on both sides and down the back of one's dogs to keep them clear of ticks/fleas etc. This can be obtained from your Vet or the Vet will spray for you. This is a long lasting spray and does away with the need for constant dipping. Please remember to keep your 5 in 1 and Rabies inoculations up-to-date, i.e. every year. Local Shows and Fairs Woodland and other show dates for you to put into your diaries:

08 March Gundogs Holland: A toddler was badly bitten, after he was pulled out of his pushchair by a dog. The dog only let go when bystanders took charge. The aggressive dog was possibly an American Staffordshire Terrier. The dog has been impounded and put to sleep. In the Hague they have invested in 12 pooper suckers. This is to keep shopping, play areas, school and old age home areas clean. 300 Special rubbish containers have been placed and more areas are being designated for dog toileting. Dog walkers will be prosecuted 30 Euro when they do not pick up their pooches toileting with a plastic bag. Cat owners have to have their cats tested for AIDS as a homeless cat has been found to have a variation of AIDS. A Vet is worried as in this time of year cats do wander to find a mate and might spread this ‘Cat Aids’, which is not transferable to humans. [This was reported in a Dutch News paper. I wonder what will come next, our dogs getting an AIDS variant too? Ed]
Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist.... Scientists at NASA have developed a gun built specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle. All this is done while the planes are traveling at different speeds and altitudes. The collisions with airborne fowl were done to test the strength of the windshields because of the fowl hazards mostly at airports. British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshield of their new high-speed trains. Arrangements were made to borrow the gun. But when the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurtled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof windshield, smashed it into smithereens, crashed through the control console, snapped the engineer's backrest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin. The horrified Britain's sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield, and begged the U.S. scientists for suggestions. NASA's response was just one sentence: "Thaw the chicken."
For all those who battle with computer terms, here is a very innovative interpretation from Zimbabwe.
