Condolences:

Anne Snowdon has passed away in the UK and many of us know her involvement with the German Shepherd Dog Club in Bulawayo, has served as Chairman several years. Training her dogs and a dear friend of Pam Brennan.

Stephanie Twiss bade a sad goodbye at the end of March to her beloved Fred (Ch. Tanronen Alexander).  Bullmastiffs are not generally reckoned to be long-lived.  A short faced giant breed, the bullmastiffs of Britain and South Africa are not expected to live more than eight or ten years but Fred did not believe in any such statistics.  He started to guard his mistress when barely two months old and continued to do so to the age of 15 years, two-and-a-half months.

The litter recently bred in the Twiss household is for the primary purpose of providing a successor to Fred - and it has done so - Tanronen Inca, now aged three months, is Fred's great-great grandson.

Editor's note:  there may still be a bitch puppy available from this litter.

China is planning to kill half a million dogs:

In the East Chinese province Shandong authorities are planning to put down half a million dogs to stop the spread of Rabies. Rabies has killed already 16 people. All dogs within a radius of 5 km will have to be put down in villages where a person died of Rabies. International animal organizations have reacted furiously to this measure.

Previously this year more than 50 000 dogs have been put down in the Southwest province of Yunan, after three people died of rabies.
