ROYAL CANIN ANNOUNCES REASONS FOR PET FOOD CONTAMINATION Royal Canin South Africa has just confirmed the results of tests conducted on Vets Choice and Royal Canin dog and cat dry pet food products manufactured between March 08, 2007 and April 11, 2007 and subject to the recall announcement earlier this week. The affected products contained corn gluten contaminated with melamine. The contaminated corn gluten was delivered to Royal Canin by a South African third party supplier and appears to have originated from China. All necessary measures have been taken in full coordination with the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) and the Petfood Industry (PFI) to ensure this contamination does not happen again. All other Vets Choice and Royal Canin products (including products made in South Africa before March 08, 2007 and products made outside South Africa) are not affected and can be safely fed to pets. We at Royal Canin want to express our support and condolences to owners whose pets may have fallen ill or passed away as a result of eating our food. As animal health professionals and pet owners ourselves, we know this situation causes suffering for pets and concern for their owners as it has for our entire Royal Canin team. We would also like to extend our most sincere thanks to all the Breeders for their continued support and understanding throughout this difficult time. We will be in communication with you on a regular basis with regular updates as to how we are going to handle all the issues that will arise from this incident.
News: Man got a friend to put his dog down. A 38 year old man from Hillegom Holland had his dog shot by a friend. He was sick of his beagle dog as the dog was attacking other dogs as well as snapping at people. This Beagle also had health problems. The dog was found near a tunnel. The owner has been detained, but shortly released again. He did not want to reveal the name of his friend. What a way to deal and sort out your pet!!
Pick-nick get together? The idea was formed by a comment from Joyce Lester and so Gladys Little and Gill Houghton opened their joint garden for this event. Two things came to my mind: A pick nick certainly not the case, but a 5 Star luncheon was a more correct name of this feast. The second thing I noted that it was such a wonderful get together and quite a few single women were invited, often they are by themself and certainly I appreciated this wonderful afternoon for more than 100 %.
What a feast. drinks were available, three wagon wheel size platters
full of small biscuits spread with cheese, and tuna pieces as well as a
little greenery on as an entrée, very tasty and I could have eaten most
of it. Then there was rice with green peas and yellow maze mixed in, a
big dish with chicken and spice as well as a big dish with paprika
chicken, two deep square dishes full of lasagna and again two wagon
wheel size platters with decorated salads, mixed with cheese, tomatoes,
pineapple.
To finish it all: fruit salad out of tins [which we don’t see in Zimbabwe], big tub with ice cream, two fruit pies, and one crusty ginger meringue. This was not the end; coffee, tea and platters with imported different cheeses and biscuits completed this most wonderful day. Some pictures for you to see how we all enjoyed this fantastic effort and I can say that I was so fortunate to be invited and have still masses of wonderful thoughts about this day which was held on 19 May.
