SCHEDULE OF BREED, OBEDIENCE AND DOG-JUMPING SHOWS FOR 2007
News: Ann Folcareli is off beginning of July to do some caring again and we will sadly miss her during the coming months. Lets hope she will have some sort of summer while over there: She writes: “”I am a sun worshipper and am not sure how I would cope with very cold weather (I grew up in Cape Town, so was used to a bit of cold weather but not for 4 months at a stretch), and also with the lack of daylight hours. Might not be all that bad, the short days, doing the care work. If I was working in an office I reckon I would suffer very badly.”” A fun show was held at the GSD Club on 3 June where Gordon Grierson was judging Special Beginners, Beginners and Novice with some good advice. Apparently about 20 dogs participated and all had a good time. Dog survived a fall out of moving van. A Jack Russell named Laila survived after falling out of a moving van. Her owner Jan Duizendstra of Sneek [Holland] drove at a speed of a 120 km per hour. when the back doors opened and the dog fell out. She has been very lucky as cars behind him were able to react immediately and were able to avoid hitting the dog Jan saw his dog limping to the verge of the road in his side mirror. She will be back to normal quite soon. Dog pooh bags forgotten 50 Euro fine. In Amsterdam you will risk a 50 Euro fine if you forget your poop bags to pick up your Fido’s poop. Municipality of Amsterdam is now going to be very strict and not allow them to pooh in the drains anymore. With these strict rules Amsterdam is determined to get the town poop free and so not irritate many people.
E-mail News: Dear Ilse, As you probably know my precious Gaele ran off in a thunder storm and was run over. The vets could not save her. I was devastated; She was my very special dog. I had builders so the gate was left open & fences were down. However I then got a Kelpie puppy that is now 17 months old. She is very boisterous, but I have been taking her to training which she loves & where she can show off. (Unfortunately the trainer has gone off to Durban.) I have called her "Kelpie" She is black and her ears did not go up as I had hoped. I keep busy playing Bridge, knitting, reading, garden visits, and W.I. and sometimes I go to school as a locum or once a week to do some coaching. My daughter is in Jo’burg, & she comes to stay now & then. My son is in Durban & he pops up for a day every so often Roger as you know is in N.Z. Patrick my youngest is in U.K. outside London. His wife has just produced my 7th grandchild, a boy. I have been busy knitting a shawl for him. Winters here are really COLD. with frost most nights & temps below freezing. Nothing seems to grow as the frost kills it. My garden is really non-existant.but I have some daffodils coming up in a trough.ouitside the door Howick is the closest main shopping centre, with PMB a bit further on. There are some shops at Nottingham Road, where we go to the Spar, & the Library.& for bottomless coffee at the Whistling Duck. Love Sheila. Unfortunately I got this mail too late as I was in Howick end of May and could have gone to see Sheila. Well there is always another time. Thought you all would like to hear Sheila’s news and it seems that she has settled well and enjoying her life there. Keep your E-mail up and me informed, so that I can have your news for all your friends to keep up to date.
Easter Holiday in Bulawayo
What a wonderful time they had during those days. As you can see its Pauline on top of an Eli and more of the Greeff’s walking with the lions. I myself hope to visit a lion family here in Harare, who have just had their cubs beginning of May. Might get some good pictures of them.
